An Episcopal layperson, she is the author of twelve books and many short pieces that focus on biblical interpretation, preaching, and use of the Hebrew Scriptures to address public issues, including agriculture and ecological destruction, interfaith work, and how the arts may illumine faith. Her new translation of the Psalter appears in The Chapel Hymnal (MorningStar, 2027); other recent books include Light within Light: Psalms and the Arts of Insight (Baylor University Press, 2027) and Reading Israel’s Scriptures (Oxford University Press, 2019).
